Henrico County is rich in history, having been established in 1634 as one of the 8 original counties in Virginia.  Throughout the county you will find many points of historical interest, including a number of Civil War battlegrounds.  Today, Henrico County constitutes about 1/3 of the Richmond metro area.  In addition to the many historical areas, Henrico County has an extensive network of parks & recreational facilities.  Henrico County schools are among the best in the nation and have won numerous awards over the years.

Due to the size of the county, Henrico County offers a diversity in terms of neighborhoods & real estate options.  From the suburban feel of the Far West End (which includes the Short Pump, Innsbrook & Nuckols Rd. corridors) to the more rural areas of Varina, Henrico County offers something for everyone.  Other neighborhoods in Henrico County include:  Lakeside, Glen Allen, Highland Springs, Sandston, Westhampton and many planned communities including:  Wyndham, Twin Hickory, Raintree and Wellesley.   Housing styles run from older brick homes (cape cods, ranchers, tri-level, Colonials) to newer homes with vinyl siding and more open floorplans.

Zoning restrictions vary greatly by area, and because of this, you will find a large number of condos and townhomes in Henrico County, particularly in the Far West End.
