Richmond Skyline at Night

When I think of the Richmond area, I think of it as a lot of different neighborhoods & areas, each with it's own flavor & feel!  And, because of this, most of my buyers have been able to find what they are looking for in a home and neighborhood.

Richmonders generally talk about being "north of the river" or "south of the river" and the James River does a great job of defining the city!  Richmond does not lie in any one county, but is it's own jurisdiction.  The City of Richmond lies north and south of the James River.  Here you will find neighborhoods like The Fan, Church Hill, Bellevue & Ginter Park, Highland Park, Stratford Hills, Woodland Heights & Westover Hills.

Henrico County goes from west to east, above the city of Richmond and north of the James River.  In Henrico County you will find a little bit of everything:  the suburban areas of Short Pump, Innsbrook, Lakeside, Glen Allen, Sandston & Highland Springs; as well as the more rural areas of Varina and the eastern side of Henrico County.

Hanover County is also "north of the river" and lies north of Henrico County.  Hanover County has suburban areas like Mechanicsville as well as planned neighborhoods like Kings Charter, Ash Creek, Milestone, Rutland and Bell Creek, as well as the small college town of Ashland (the self proclaimed "center of the universe).  There are many rural areas in Hanover County, including Montpelier, Beaverdam, Old Church.

Chesterfield County is "south of the river" and lies south of the city of Richmond.  Chesterfield County will have many suburban areas, planned communities and communities with acreage lots.  Here you will find Chester, Midlothian as well as the Woodlake & Brandermill communities (which have been built on the Swift Creek Reservoir), and a number of new home communities which are being built throughout the county.

So take a few minutes to get to know each of the neighborhoods & areas in Richmond!  With a mix of old and new, city and suburbs, urban and rural, I think you will find it a great city to call home!
